Take The Tour!

If you are holidaying without the kids and are looking for something a little more sedate to do, why not take a circular tour in the car ...

Burgh-le-Marsh windmillTake the A158 out of Skegness and head for Burgh le Marsh, where you will find a fine example of a 5 sailed windmill.  There is a gallery which outlines the history of milling, a gift shop and a tea room.  Opening hours: Open May to October Sundays only 2pm to 5pm.  Free admission.

Continue inland on the A158 to Gunby roundabout.  Gunby Hall, a National Trust property is situated here.  Check opening times beforehand.

Follow the A158 to the roundabout at Partney and turn left on to the A16.  About a mile on, turn left  (B1195) into the small market town of Spilsby, birthplace of Benjamin Franklin.  Plenty of choices for lunch or refreshments here!

Stay on the B1195 to Great Steeping and pay a visit to the Northcote Heavy Horse Centre. Special events are held throughout the summer months.

A few miles further on, down this attractive Lincolnshire country road, you will arrive at Wainfleet, home to Batemans Brewery, where you can call in at the visitor centre and sample some of the finest traditionally brewed ales.

From Wainfleet it is just a few minutes drive east along the A52 to Skegness, where you can call into one of the large supermarkets for some provisions or make your way back to Castaways!
